I thinks its fine you having to defend yourselfs but there really is no need ...my statement required no defense.
By the way, I carry my tanaka on my belt, and a good lineman always starts his drill before he goes up the pole, that way if it aint gonna run he doesnt have to sit and wait for the grunt to run back to the truck for a wiggle stick.
