Well well. Some TV's didnt go over #13 (these were those dial TV's, VHS low and mid was it, all other channels were UHF (not cable channels) ) sometimes they dont go over #47(doasnt have hyper band) and some didnt go over 57 (i think it was) (these didnt have the super hyper band). My terminoledgey could be a little off BUT.... 20 years ago the goverment didnt regulate what bands they installed in them (Zenith, RCA, oh and the Korean junk you'll find out there also)....If you come across a digital TV and it doasnt get over #13. you have to go into the menue and tell it to except the CATV feed... switch it from air to Cable. if it gives you the options of standard ICC or HRC go with standard...not many systems still on HRC...
If the TV only gets a few channels over 13 after that go back and find auto program... good luck dude.
The thing that freaks me out is all these yuppies buy these $4000 flat screen TV's and dont read the instructions.. THEY THINK THAT .the dude with the high school education and a Pick-up will hook it up. and lord help them if he screws up he'll call the MSO and complain.. I truley hated installs! ..The only time you need a box is when they are giveing you premium channels...or blowin smoke up yer butt trying to convince you that you have to have this little peice of junk they charge installers and subs $300 bucks for....A$$holes (sound like the price Adelphia)
...GOOD LUCK BROTHA
