How do you feel about the shape of this industry?
Confident it will be OK. The telcos cannot afford to rebuild their infrastructure to compete with HFC without replacing their entire plant, including drops. HFC can be upgraded gradually to FTTH. Satellites are limited for two-way communication.
As a whole; How do we improve it?
Improve customer service. Continue the transition to FTTH.
As an individual; How do we improve it?
Maintain high quality work.
Do you think it will improve , level off, or get worse?
Improve if we think of the customer first.
What would be your suggestion to a young man (woman) entering this industry?
Get a good education, and don't be afraid to "get your hands dirty"!
How do you feel about today vs 1995?
Better that I did in 2000.
What would you predict for the next 10 years?
Transition from analog to all digital services. Streaming of content to replace broadcasting of content. Less coaxial, more fiber.
