Out of all the messages I have read, yours is the most convincing. I have thought about it and will wait to see what happens in our next contract negotiation. If we are to walk for weeks at a time or the politics become too thick, I will be fully vested by then. I can cash in my stocks and start up my own business. I plan to diversify into more than just splicing. I can trench, plow drops, bore or use missles. I have three guys I trust that will go in with me and we can try to keep it small.
However, if the contract goes well and we don't go on strike, I will probably just stay put. I just can't help the itch to be out on my own making it on my own. Perhaps I should look into side businesses I can start that don't cause a conflict of interest with my current job. Thanks for the advice...
