RAG1 & Staashen put up some goods points
Think about thses items as well
1. Stripping tool dies may be worn out or mis adjusted.
2. Techniques you use cuts to deep.
3. Concerned that the nick will allow moisture in and corriosn will begin. Some wires have a covering between the jacket and the conductor.
4. Cable or tool used doesn't really meet the standards for conductor diameter and jacket diameter for the wire size.
To check this out get a micrometer and measure the cable parts. Then you can look up the cable and wire manufacturers hot line.
for the specifcation to the size wire. It would not be the first time
I have seen a manufacturer try to pass off something. Just look at the many variations of RG-6 plenum cable.

Also try Underwriters lab cable test anc certification service
to see if the ground wire you are using is right for the job.
