I honestly believe that if the employees in the store were educated on the systems, and what cables they will need and NOT need. Half of the problems would be gone. Also, being a contractor that works for Best Buy, I have gone in the store to "quiz" the employee off of work hours. I have heard everything from "DirecTV themselves come out to wire your house" to "without this optical cable, your whole surround sound will shut down".
Try fighting the problem on your own home front first.
