Hey this is for all the satellite installers out there, here in ontario canada i see the following a lot,
NO ground blocks
Ground blocks INSIDE the house
LOOSE connectors
BAD grounding procedures
a MESS of cable hap-hazardly stapled to the house
and NO drip loops or silicone when the cable enters the house.
This seems to be done by the subs that work for Bell EXpressVU
PLEASE ground everything properly and put the ground block OUTSIDE the house. If you look in the CEC under section 54 or 58 covers CATV and coaxial cable installations. This is CODE and must be followed, why isn't this being followed? the cable company has no problem complying. When I do an install i place the ground block at the point of entry to the house and ground it with number 10 TW75 copper right to the main ground, if it;s a satellite i ground that too. Someday someone is going to get in deep sh*t when there is a lightning strike especially in a rural area and someone gets killed or a house burns down.
I know it isn't the installers *most* of the time but the sub contractors being cheap, I wonder what Bell would think?
Thanks!
