I use to be a VP @ Mastec. Back in the days of long haul fiber builds, subcontractors could easily generate million plus gross revenues. In fact I had one drill sub , with a single rig, produce over 500K in production over only 12 weeks. Comparing a cable dawg to a directional drill contractor is comparing apples to oranges. There are good and bad at Mastec -- some divisions pay and some do not. One word of caution -- check out the Mastec stock symbol (MTZ) at yahoo financial or excite, etc. -- then check out their coporate news. Mastec is in trouble. Within the past week there have been 7 class action lawsuits filed against them for manipulating their stock price. Their credit rating has been downgraded and they have changed Chief Financial Officers. Apparently Mastec has been caught at creative bookkeeping. True or not -- once the big boy lawyers come down on you -- in my humble opinion -- a bankruptcy is not far behind. Just a word of caution.
