Re: Data Transfer Over Power Lines---?--->

Here in SW Colorado, the elec coop has been dabbling in fiber. Lost 25M of ratepayer money so far in the first bankruptcy, dumped another 10M into the new company. I think they have about ten customers so far, with 20 mi of local and a 200 mi connex to ABQ NM. But they promise all will be well when they build another 200 mi connex to Grand Junction CO.

If they didn't have a construction subsidiary to play "hide the pea" with, they'd be history. But electric coop members are really stoopid, and believe all those really smooth Touchstone ads.

IMHO they have really f***ed a deal that was working smoothly. Now it's a total; PITA do do anything, since coops are exempt from FCC pole use controls. They wanted to break our contract, with 15 yrs to go, and double our rate. They backed off when we threatened to sue. But they fooled a couple of other local ops.

If you thought Dish and Direct were bad news, wait til you have to fight your coop, that you are a part owner of.
