Joe has a good pic for you as reference, but look at the vendor sheets and they list the operational gain under the return side of the spec sheet. I know that each vendor is a little different, but it comes down to what the operator whats the input to the return module to be and calculate out to the test point. The return out is normally set for maximum gain in order to reach the next amp down stream at the same level. Called unity gain
