One quick note regarding overtime beyond 40 hours. There are certain instances where they can get away with not paying overtime after 40 hours. A friend of mine worked for Wells-Fargo, or whatever they are called now, and they did not pay overtime. They were able to get away with it because their trucks crossed states lines and the laws fell under the Department of Transportation rather than any state labor laws. It was challenged by many, and every challenge failed. I'm not sure if they still do this now though. I am guessing that private ambulance companies could get away with the same thing as they are governed ultimately by the D.O.T.
