Re: Finding noise/ingress with SDA-500

Hey Jim,
Obviously the best way to track Ingress/Egress is with an HP 8591C for a look see and then a couple two or three techs in the field to track it down and fix, filter it.
But, contrary to what others may agree upon in here? The SDA 5000 Spectrum Analyzer is really not too bad for tracking the "occational" Ingress/Egress problem.
Due to it's "slow sweep response" on the Spectrum side, it's not an Analyzer to use on a normal bases.
You also do not have to purchase / lease the best Analyzer either!
If you know how to set the SDA 5000 up for say: 5-42 Mhz range on the Analyzer (Center frequency)? You can look at noise ingressing onto the return path to a certain degree.
I used the SDA 5000 only on extreme cases when I did not have the good ole HP 8591C available.
Not sure if I am helping at all here. (confused)
If I can help you at all please Private message me?
