I've installed a bunch of these units and have had to use splitters to connect them to High Definition units and had no problem at all.
(Since the PVR/DVR units are not available for High Def, we have to use two set-tops for High Def. applications.)
Does this problem only occurr when rewinding and fast-forwarding? Does the normal playback skip? Is your picture quality overall good? Are you experiencing problems with your digital channels?
If all the other functions seem normal then I would suspect a bad unit.
