path is not clear?? are they saying that if the box driver is down it is do to noise on the reverse path?? what do they want you to check? the return path for noise or just continuity?? The box drivers are not "in" the return path that is something different. Is it possible that they are talking about the boxes being non responding??? The RSVP would do the trick for return path continuity and noise. It does provide a signal to noise reading which would give you an idea about the true "noise" level. Comcast will have to have the rsvp's transmitter installed at the head end. Who is supposed to buy that??
Would it not be far easier and cheaper for them to issue you a "test" box? you could hook it up at the tap call in have them hit it and see if it responds?? time consuming but cheaper..Hope this all helps.
