I'm sorry but 10-6 or 10-4 for being accptable is not true. 10 to the -6 means you would have 10 in a million, and either 10-4 or 1.0e-4 (1.0E-4 being 1 error per 10,000 bits. ) would be HORRIBLE. Forward error correction circuitry starts having problems at 1.0E-6 which is one in one million errors. I really never see anything worse than a 1.0e - 8 or really, I usually see no errors on out downstream QAM signals. Usually only see some upstream problems.
