Again like I said in a previous post. Money is the issue. The MSO"s just want it up and running to get their buck and please the share holders.
20 years ago I spliced the new cable in many of the systems that are being upgraded now with the existing cable.
As this cable starts to fail due to expansion and contraction along with the elements you will need a fire engine to put out the fires.Keep in mind just with average expansion and contraction the cable life is only 30 years.
These systems now are living on borrowed time. The MSO's believe in bandaiding the broken leg.
Watch them scramble in a few years when the bandaid aint big enough and the boat starts to sink.
Its going to be funny when these systems start replacing cable and reusing the electronics and the suits will learn they made a big mistake and should have done it right the first time.
