I've been installing a lot of Hi Def convertors lately and have noticed that most of the Hi Def televisions tend to not look so good when viewing either the analog or regular digital channels, even bypass the convertor and the pix tend to look less than desireable. Signal levels are good, the only thing I have to test with is an installer meter (Blonder Tongue).
In most cases it's not what I'd describe as "snowy", just not crisp and defined, some of the color has a "pastel" look to it especially if you look at facial features and hair. Get the idea?
The Hi Def channels look fantastic which is nice, but is there an inherent problem with these sets that causes this delima?
I've also been doing a lot of SRO rebuilds due to poor pic quality and the end result yeilds the same.
I work in several areas so I am off of different nodes. I don't see the problems with regular televisions with or without digital set-tops. I'm not a complete dumb-ass, just bewildered!!!
God, I pine for the days of 10 channels and single switch box for HBO!!!
HDTV pic quality
