Re: modem install

SOP--always, let me emphasize this--ALWAYS turn on the TV and now computer before you do anything. How many times have you been to a customer that has a TV not even plugged into the outlet?? Sometimes a new move-in into a multi $$$$$ house, but sometimes in the ghetto. What an opportunity to frame the cable guy! I usually cover my ass and firmly, but politely ask the customer to do this . The minute I touch their equipment I am liable. Thank God my supervisors back me 100% on this procedure. Specific example: New modem install--older folks inherited legacy computer from children. Not at all literate about computers, but convinced their kids would never send them a problematic computer. Cold boot results in advisory that disc is stuck in position . Discover that no disc at all in position. You darn well better not try to circumvent this warning!!
