Job Description

Advanced Communication & Data builds fiber optic networks for home and businesses throughout Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Aerial Lineman Foreman to lead, direct, and train our aerial construction crews across Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for field supervision, quality control, crew mentorship, and the hands-on installation and maintenance of overhead fiber optic infrastructure.

This is a full-time, permanent position—not contract work—offering year-round stability, career growth, and comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities

• Crew Leadership & Training: Direct daily on-site operations for multiple aerial crews. Train, mentor, and evaluate apprentices and linemen on proper lashing, pole climbing, bucket operations, and fiber handling techniques.
• Fiber Installation & Maintenance: Oversee and perform the installation, strand placement, lashing, overbuilds, drop placements, and maintenance of aerial fiber optic cable.
• Job Site Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, NESC, company safety protocols, and proper traffic control setup (MDT guidelines). Conduct daily tailgate safety meetings and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
• Project Execution & Reporting: Read and interpret construction prints, cut sheets, and route maps. Track daily production, review work orders, complete job-site documentation, and report progress to field operations management.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to ensure build standards meet customer specifications, local utility regulations, and joint-use pole agreements.
• Equipment Oversight: Ensure bucket trucks, digger derricks, trailers, lashers, and hand tools are inspected, maintained, and safely operated.

Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aerial telecommunications construction, with at least 1–2 years in a crew lead or foreman capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in placing strand, lashing fiber optic cable, pole transfers, tree trimming, and make-ready construction.
• Climbing & Heights: Skilled in pole climbing with spurs/gaffs and working comfortably out of standard bucket trucks up to 40+ feet.
• Leadership: Strong communication skills with a proven track record of managing crews, maintaining morale, and training junior linemen.
