Qualifications
1+ year experience in structured cabling - coax, Cat5e/Cat6, and/or fiber (MDU preferred). Comfortable in tight spaces, risers, crawlspaces, and heights. Fiber splicing, MSO-specific MDU standards (Spectrum/Charter, Verizon Fios), or OSP/FTTH/drop bury experience is a plus.
Other Requirements
Own hand tools and low-voltage test equipment (testers, tone/probe kit, crimpers). Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. Must pass a background check and drug test. SSN or valid EIN required (1099 contractor role).
Job Description
Install, test, and terminate coax, Cat5e/Cat6, and/or fiber cabling in apartment complexes, condos, and other multi-dwelling properties in the Buffalo market - working with property staff and residents to deliver reliable connectivity.
Compensation & Schedule
Piece-rate pay per completed, QC-approved unit - competitive with the Buffalo market. Fiber-termination units pay a higher rate. Flexible, project-based scheduling around property access windows.
Responsibilities
Pre-wire and post-wire units with coax and/or Cat5e/Cat6
Run cabling through risers, conduits, and pathways to units
Terminate, test, and label drops per client standards
Install fiber drops/pathways as scoped
Report or remove abandoned/damaged cable
Coordinate access with property managers and residents
Document work with photos and close-out reports
Follow safety protocols in risers, crawlspaces, and elevated work
