Qualifications
Must be able to pass MVR, background, and drug screen. Ability to read locate markings and follow utility locate requirements. Lift up to 75 pounds. Safely operate construction and pulling equipment, construction machinery, hand tools, and power tools. Stand, walk, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday in varying weather conditions without aid.
Other Requirements
Directional drill, equipment, truck, and machine skills experience preferred. Ability to safely tow and back a trailer. Assist with project documentation, redlines, as-builts, and project closeout activities. Have a working mobile phone with an active phone number and email address.
Job Description
The Telecommunications Construction Drill Operator is responsible for operating directional drilling equipment and supporting underground telecommunications construction activities involving fiber optic, coaxial, conduit, and network infrastructure installation. This position performs bore path installation, conduit placement, utility avoidance, equipment operation, and jobsite coordination while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company, MSO, OSHA, and regulatory standards.
The Drill Operator works closely with Foremen, Groundhands, Locators, Construction Managers, utility companies, and subcontractors to support successful underground telecommunications deployments and construction operations. Experience with reading HFC design maps preferred.
Document completed work, field modifications, and conduit conditions. Submit completed daily work report emails. Work independently and as a team. Maintain company equipment. Work may occasionally require evenings, weekends, overtime, overnights, or on-call support depending on project demands.
Ability to splice Coax or Fiber preferred but not required. Local crews are preferred.
