Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of HDD drilling experience. Experience operating Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar directional drilling equipment. Knowledge of underground utility construction, bore planning, and locating practices. Ability to read utility maps and construction drawings. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Strong safety awareness and communication skills. Ability to work outdoors and travel throughout Southern California.

Job Description
MetroRF is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator to support telecommunications and utility construction projects throughout Southern California. The HDD Operator will be responsible for safely operating drilling equipment, completing bore paths, and installing underground conduit and fiber infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform utility bore installations for telecommunications, fiber optic, and utility projects.
Read and interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and bore plans.
Conduct pre-job site inspections and identify potential underground conflicts.
Coordinate with utility locators, project managers, and field crews.
Monitor drilling operations to ensure bore accuracy and project quality.
Install conduit, innerduct, and associated underground infrastructure.
Complete daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements.
Maintain accurate job documentation and production reports.
Support restoration and project closeout activities as needed.
Preferred Experience:
Fiber optic and telecommunications construction experience.
Knowledge of California DigAlert (811) requirements.
Experience with tracking systems and locating equipment.
CDL license is a plus.
