Job Description
Position Overview: The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables and networks. This is a hands-on role involving both aerial and underground fiber work.
*Preferred candidate with experience in telecommunications
*We are willing to train the right candidate
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform high-quality fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber
• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables using OTDR, power meters, and light sources
• Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network issues
• Respond to fiber optic network outages and emergencies
• Read and interpret fiber optic schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
• Maintain accurate documentation and splicing records
• Work safely at heights (aerial) and in confined spaces (underground)
• Adhere to industry standards and company safety protocols
Requirements:
• Strong working knowledge of fusion splicers (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo) and OTDR equipment
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours when needed
