Job Description
Primary focus will be On-The-Job (OJT) training for installing and maintaining networks that provide wired and wireless connectivity along with video and voice services to the end user. The Field Technician Level II does all the attributes of deploying mid to large scale network solutions for residential, municipal, and commercial Internet applications.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities:
OJT to process work orders in a timely manner.
OJT to monitor system performance and customer complaints.
OJT to interact with the end users to identify any potential problems.
OJT to assist any users with problems or questions.
Collaborate with experienced team members to learn the skills and tasks to install, troubleshoot, and repair wired & wireless HSIA, video, and VOIP hardware/software.
Learn to evaluate job sites to assess optimal placement of hardware and communicate with customers to review the installation process.
Provide excellent customer experience while maintaining a safe work environment.
OJT to manage the administrative processes including van inventory and appropriate documentation.
Ensure that the highest quality of service is provided to promote superior customer satisfaction.
Adhere to company safety guidelines and requirements.
All other assigned duties and responsibilities not otherwise listed above.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant exposure with CATV, DirecTV (including residential single family and MFH2/D2 systems), DISH Network QAM, DOCSIS, Ethernet, Fiber, and Wi-Fi systems in an MDU/Hospitality/commercial environment.
6 months minimum previous experience working in the field or in an n-related environment.
Licenses, Certifications, and Screenings:
Upon hire, must pass background screen to include employment history, college education, and license/certification verifications, and criminal and MVR checks.
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and up-to-date vehicle insurance.
Must pass annual criminal and MVR checks.
Upon hire and in the event of a work accident, must pass drug screen.
DirecTV SBCA certification training may be provided based on ability.
BICSI training may be provided based on ability. Specific manufacturer equipment training based on ability.
Knowledge:
Knowledge or interest to learn Internet networking concepts and the related tools, including LAN/WAN/WLAN.
Knowledge or interest to learn commercial network and/or video distribution systems.
Ability to book own travel and complete electronic expense reports using online systems.
Work Environment:
Possibility to be on-call 24/7 during a standard on-call rotation. When on-call must respond within 60 minutes of being called.
Available to work some weekends and/or evening hours.
Available to travel locally, not to exceed 50%.
Ability to lift, push, and/or carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds without assistance.
Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals.
Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces.
Ability to frequently bend, climb, squat, reach, kneel, balance, and crawl.
Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms.
Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
Lift hands frequently to reach above, below or at shoulder level.
Pushing/pulling may involve use of hands/arms, feet/legs, and/or feet only done with one side of the body or both sides up to 70lbs.
Sitting for long periods of time may be required.
Exposure to noise, fumes, electrical energy, and inclement weather conditions.
