Job Description
We are seeking an Experienced Fiber Optics Splicer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience splicing fiber optic cables in underground environments, performing OTDR testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate project documentation. Installing Fiber optics cable in underground conduit using hand-pulling and capstan hoists.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform fusion and mechanical splicing for single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables
Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to verify splice quality
Read and interpret splice plans, schematics, and work orders
Maintain proper records of splicing activities and test results
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Work independently or as part of a team in various field conditions
Communicate effectively with project managers and other team members
Qualifications:
Have the ability to solve problems and think for yourself
- Minimum 2 years of professional fiber optic splicing experience
- Proficient with fusion splicing machines (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo, AFL)
- Knowledge of OTDRs, power meters, and related fiber testing equipment
- Ability to read fiber plans, construction prints, and splice diagrams
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights if required
- Ability to build splice cases with quality and efficiency
Preferred:
Certifications from FOA, ETA, or other recognized fiber optic training programs
Experience with both underground and aerial fiber work
Familiarity with safety requirements for working in live utility environments
