Qualifications
Ideally, we’re looking for a crew member with expertise in OTDR, OLTS testing and power meter/light source testing. However, we’re also open to an apprenticeship for a motivated and driven individual. Applicants must have their own transportation, be legally authorized to work in the U.S., reside in or around the Albuquerque area, and have a clean driving record.
Other Requirements
A positive attitude, the ability to work under strict deadlines, and strong attention to detail are essential. Candidates should be tech-savvy and have a smartphone for scheduling. Hours will vary based on client needs.

Job Title: Fiber Optic Testing Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Fiber Optic Testing Specialist with expertise in fiber optic testing, specifically OTDR, OLTS testing and power meter/light source testing. The ideal candidate will have experience in fiber optic testing, but we are also open to an apprenticeship opportunity for a highly motivated and driven individual looking to build a career in fiber optics. This role focuses on testing, safety, compliance, and reporting while working in physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Fiber Optic Testing & Analysis
Perform OTDR, OLTS testing and power meter/light source testing to verify fiber optic integrity.
Identify, troubleshoot, and document fiber optic issues, including signal loss and splicing faults.
Ensure all test results meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all company, industry, and regulatory safety standards.
Follow proper procedures for handling fiber optic cables and equipment to prevent damage or injury.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry safety protocols.
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with team members, contractors, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
Accurately document and report test results, including fiber loss, splicing quality, and potential issues.
Provide feedback and recommendations to improve network performance and efficiency.
Work Environment
Work is typically performed outdoors in potentially challenging weather conditions.
Tasks may require working in elevated or confined spaces and physically demanding conditions.
Must be comfortable working with fiber optic equipment in various field environments.
Requirements:
Experience with OTDR, OLTS testing and power meter/light source testing (preferred, but not required for apprentices).
Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, splicing, and troubleshooting (or willingness to learn).
Tech-savvy with the ability to use testing equipment, software, and mobile applications for scheduling and reporting.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and based in or near Albuquerque, NM.
Work Schedule:
Hours may vary based on client needs.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
