Job Description
The Telecommunications Directional Drill Operator leads and performs Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) activities to support the installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires expertise in HDD operations, team leadership, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform HDD operations in compliance with job specifications, customer requirements, and safety standards.
• Continuously monitor job sites for safety risks and changing conditions.
• Conduct routine maintenance on assigned fleet equipment and maintain accurate service documentation.
• Lead and manage a team of three or more employees to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
• Provide training, guidance, and supervision to HDD operators and laborers to enhance skills and proficiency.
• Ensure safe usage of equipment and strict compliance with company safety policies.
• Complete all required daily paperwork, including timesheets, production reports, incident reports, and vehicle maintenance records.
• Train crew members in alignment with company safety protocols and industry best practices.
• Oversee and ensure all work adheres to installation standards and project specifications.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Foreman or management.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in HDD operations preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
• Proven experience in HDD operations, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams of three or more employees.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and ability to enforce them.
• Proficiency in completing detailed paperwork and maintaining accurate records.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, and high winds.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and conditions.
