Qualifications
1. Strong knowledge of telecommunications industry standards and OSP engineering practices. 2. Proficiency in OSP design for copper and fiber optic facilities, including aerial, underground, and direct-buried installations. 3. Experience with design tools such as CAD programs. 4. Understanding of construction techniques, cable placement, and splicing methods. 5. Familiarity with easement, right-of-way and permitting processes.

Job Description
The OSP (Outside Plant) Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing network infrastructure to support strategic technology goals, including wireline and wireless components. This role involves both short- and long-term planning for access to network technologies, encompassing solution recommendations and implementation strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate intermediate to advanced technical expertise, work independently on complex engineering projects, and provide mentorship to peers and new hires.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan (field notes/ walkout) and prepare construction designs for new plant, as well as modifications or removals of existing fiber optic
cables and conduits.
• Conduct analysis to ensure optimal and cost-effective utilization of communications facilities.
• Interpret highway and road plans to identify potential conflicts with existing outside plant (OSP) facilities and determine necessary
routing adjustments.
• Oversee aerial, buried, underground, and building entrance designs to meet project specifications.
• Must be in market to verify adherence to design specifications, meet with local permitting authorities, follow given architecture
processes.
• Execute tasks such as redlining, bore design, CAD drafting, make-ready analysis, field notes, pole surveys, conduit locating, quality
control of prints, and preparation of butterfly drawings.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5+ years of OSP design experience with companies such as AT&T, Windstream, CenturyLink, Level 1, or FPL Fibernet.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting highway/road prints.
• Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as required.
• Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must be able to work outside in a variety of environments and weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and train team members.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic and copper cable technologies.
