Qualifications
Education: Associate in Electronics, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience. Experience: Telecom experience, preferably in headend/ISP infrastructure. Knowledge of DOCSIS, RF, optical networks, & IP networking. Hands-on with routers, switches, CMTS & MPEG processing. Understanding of IP routing, RF systems & signal propagation. Fiber splicing and termination skills. Proficient with OTDRs and spectrum analyzers. Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams & topology maps.
Other Requirements
1. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and respond to emergencies promptly. 2. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nightshifts, weekends and on-call rotations. 3. Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.). 4. Must pass background and drug screenings as required by the employer.
Job Description
Subcontractors are required to carry and provide proof of insurance for general liability, workers' compensation, auto coverage, etc. and must be authorized to work in the United States. Must have reliable transportation with valid driver's license.
The Inside Plant (ISP) Headend Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of headend and hub site equipment. This position ensures that all video, data, and voice transmission systems are operating optimally to meet customer expectations and service level agreements (SLAs). The technician works with routers, switches, RF systems, optical transmission equipment, and digital content distribution systems within a controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install and maintain headend equipment including routers, switches, modulators, demodulators, and optical transceivers.
• Remote Phy equipment (CPODS, PPODS, HAAGS, DAAS, XMFR, VSG’s etc. anything RPHY deployment related) The validation and testing
includes validating light levels, fiber continuity, ORT testing etc.
• Backbone Transport equipment (Ciena shelves, Nokia shelves etc.)
• CMTS to REEF upgrades/Migrations
• Rack and stack equipment and manage structured cabling inside the headend
