Drill/Bore Locators
Responsibilities:
• Work with the driller to accurately follow the drill head and navigate through existing utilities.
• Collaborate closely with the project team, including the directional drilling crew and project managers, to understand project requirements, plans, and specifications.
• You and the drill operator are expected to self-manage to a certain extent.
• Participate in pre-drilling meetings to discuss project plans, identify potential challenges, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Always adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, the team, and other contractors or personnel in the vicinity.
• Continuously update your knowledge and skills related to locating techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.
Desired Qualifications
Possess a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred
Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
Basic knowledge of and ability of hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
Ability to communicate effectively with employees
Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
Able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. as needed with or without assistance
The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time, tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling.
Safely operate mechanized equipment such as utility and bucket trucks
Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
Familiar with NESC rules and guidelines
This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind.
Travel is required for this position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
2+ Years Experience as a Drill or Bore Locator
Commercial driver's license (CDL), preferred
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Able to work under mildly safe and uncomfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations, odors, and toxic agents
Able to exert heavy physical effort in moderate to heavy work
Dependable, flexibility to work weekends, as needed
Work independently under minimal supervision
Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process
