Job Description
Installation of Fiber Optic Cables:
Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and large infrastructures. Ensure that fiber optic connections are properly installed for optimal performance.
Fiber Splicing and Termination:
Perform fiber optic splicing to connect fibers and ensure data transmission quality. Terminate fiber optic cables to ensure proper connections with network equipment.
Testing and Troubleshooting:
Use specialized equipment (e.g., OTDR – Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) to test fiber optic networks for signal quality, speed, and connectivity. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems within the fiber optic infrastructure.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and testing activities. Provide regular reports and updates on projects and service calls to supervisors.
Maintenance and Repair:
Perform routine maintenance on fiber optic cables, equipment, and related hardware to ensure optimal performance. Address outages, broken cables, and other issues as they arise.
Adherence to Industry Standards:
Follow all local, state, and federal safety guidelines and industry best practices related to fiber optic installation and maintenance.
Operate Equipment:
Use specialized tools and equipment, such as fusion splicers, power meters, and cable testers, to install, test, and repair fiber optic lines.
Work in Various Environments:
Install and maintain fiber optics in different environments, including underground, aerial, and inside buildings. Climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and operate in different weather conditions.
Customer Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns, answering questions, and ensuring installations meet the customer's requirements and expectations.
