OSP Fiber Splicer Technician - Ohio
SystemOps, LLC – Remote
We are hiring Outside Plant Fiber Techs in Ohio for ongoing and upcoming new build projects. This is a production role. Will consider 1099 for experienced and motivated Techs.
Job Summary:
We are seeking Outside Plant Fiber Splicer Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber networks. All work is outdoors and 100% travel is required.
Responsibilities:
Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and enclosures.
Perform maintenance and repairs on existing fiber optic cables
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic networks
Utilize hand tools for fiber splicing and cabling tasks
Work on outside plant fiber optic systems
Work closely with the team to ensure jobs are completed on time
Communicate with the field supervisor, managers and admin team and delays, concerns or roadblocks.
Requirements:
Track record of working safely in all environments
Must be dependable with good attendance history
Previous experience as fiber splicer, coax splicer, prem technician, service tech or maintenance tech (cable TV, telephone, etc.)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Understanding of telecommunications networks and systems
Familiarity with working at heights in bucket trucks, on extension ladders, and/or pole climbing
Ability to use hand tools effectively
Ability to lift and carry 75lbs
Ability to work outdoors in all weather
Ability to work independently and remain motivated
Willingness to travel as needed
Fiber tech is responsible for completing the OSP FTTH network build by splicing in terminals and outside plant cables. Fiber tech will document daily work through web apps, cloud storage and MS office. We will train someone on fiber splicing if they already have experience in the Telecommunications industry. Current job location is Ohio, regular travel throughout the US will be required. All work is outdoors. Fiber Techs are paid based on production and have a high earning potential, commensurate with the effort they put into their work. Individual 1099 or regular employee Opportunities are available.
