Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Drop Installer to join our telecommunications construction team. The Drop Installer will be responsible for the installation of fiber optic and/or coaxial drop lines from main service lines to residential and commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will have experience in telecommunications installation, possess strong technical skills, and be able to work efficiently in various weather conditions while maintaining a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation of drop lines: Install fiber optic or coaxial drop lines from the main distribution line to the customer’s premises, ensuring proper connections to service boxes, Network Interface Devices (NID), or Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
Customer interaction: Communicate with customers during installation to ensure understanding of the process, resolve any access issues, and explain the use of installed equipment.
Signal testing: Perform signal strength and quality tests to ensure proper service levels before completing installation and leaving the site.
Routing and cabling: Plan and execute cable routing from the service point to the customer location, following the most efficient path while avoiding obstacles and complying with local regulations.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues encountered during the installation process, such as weak signals, damaged cables, or equipment malfunctions.
Safety compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ladder safety, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork or digital entries to document installations, materials used, and any issues encountered on the job.
Site cleanup: Ensure that job sites are left in clean and safe condition following installation, including the removal of any debris or excess materials.
Equipment maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
