Charter....Here comes the Justice Department

WASHINGTON(DOW JONES)-Scientific-Atlanta Inc. said Friday that the U.S. Justice Department has served it a subpoena regarding the production of documents in connection with a merketing support agreement with Charter Communications Inc.

Scientific-Atlanta, which reported the information in a quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, said it is cooperating with the investigation. The filing provided no further information.

Sales to Charter Communications made up 14% of Scientific-Atlanta's product sales in fiscal 2002 and 20% in fiscal 2001.

Scientific-Atlanta supplies transmission networks for broadband access to the home, digital interactive subscriber systems and home terminals designed for video and high speed internet.
