Hi everybody.
A new topic to rant about --- how many communication industries are merging these days. I just received what I thought was my TCI cable bill and found out that it's now AT&T. But if I have AT&T long distance, and their cable, shouldn't I get a discount?
Ideally, since these large companies are taking over, it would make sense to just buy things in a package - internet, pager, cell, voicemail, even cable and satellite. They would make bucks and we could save money. But to me it feels like nobody's being smart about this stuff. For example, sure there's call forwarding, but I like the concept of tracking people on many wavelenths. My friend works at a silicon valley company and whenevr I try to reach him, a robot voice says she is trying his extension, then she says she's tracking him, which means they try whatever numbers he's given them - cell, home, pager - and then finally put me to his voicemail if he doesn't pick up. That's a good use of resources. There are some smaller service places like messageblaster that can track people the same way, but these kinds of smart services are rare. I'm just wondering when we can start reaping some rewards of monopolization and stop paying sixteen different bills to sixteen different services each month??

Seems like telecommunications keep consolidating, but it's not helping me!
