Ideally, the input RF into a house amp should be between 3 and 12dBmV at all freqs. Any lower, and the additive noise of the amp will begin to affect the picture, especially on your larger sets. Any higher and the amp will be overdriven, causing distortions.
Best to check the spec sheet on the particular amp you're using.
