For HFC activation you'll require specialised equipment. The best equipment I have found is from TRILITHIC. The 860 DSP and the SST-9580. The 860DSP does all the function required for forward 50-870 MHz alignment and also transmits to the SST-950, 8 carriers from 5 to 65 MHz used to adjust the return system and look for INGRESS on it. I can send you a POWER POINT presentation on how it works, but you'll required a fast internet connection as the presentation is more than 6 Mb.
