Work Experience: Fiber Optic Technician, Fiber Optic Specialties, Inc., a Northwest Indiana corporation, and a secondary location in New Orleans, April 1998 to May 2001. May 2001 to current, contractor for Qwest Communications  through Excell Technologies  traveling nation wide. 

 

Accomplishments: Servicing of fiber optic cable networks nationwide. Building, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, connectorization, and splicing of ribbon and single strand cables, also terminating Hub sites, Row Pop sites, and Head Ends. Knowing and understanding splice schematics, fiber backbone blueprints, and Head End relay rack layouts. 

 

                        Mastery of technical equipment including:

Variety of style O.T.D.R.’s, including CMA 4000

                                                Siecor Fusion Splicers; M-90, 3163

Fujikura Fusion Splicers; Single strand 40S, 30S, and Mass fusion 30R

                       

                        Experience in enclosures ranging from any type of Raychem’s, 3-M’s,                 Coyote’s. Also 2600’s, UCB-1’s, Antec, Captil, as well as PSI’s.

 

Fiber types include:

LXE / Uni-tube

Ribbon, Single Strand, Leaf, Truewave, Allwave, Multimode, Singlemode, shifted, and dispersion shifted fiber.

OFNR, Mic/in house cables, Pirelli, Corning/Siecor, Alcatel, Lucent Technologies, among many others.

 

My abilities have reached; quality and quickness in each splice on prompt emergency restorations, re-locates or new builds.  Damage-free, ring cut locations, hot cuts that were performed between specs and window time frames, one priority fiber at a time, or according to customers, methods of operated procedure.

Cox Communications, Metairie, Louisiana

System development for the upgrading of digital cable layouts, such as buttsplices, mid-sheaths, and terminating nodes. Built and spliced 432ct. cables to 900-micron fiber into cabinets in Head end. It was the largest redundant system in the nation.

 

Ameritech, Media-One, Elmhurst, Illinois.

                        Splicing of cable and testing of 288 count in patch panels.

 

Williams Communications, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Splicing of cable into pre-connectorized patch panel and performed bi-directional power metering for fibers db loss integrity.

 

Level 3 Communications, Via: Cruz Cell, Indianapolis, Indiana

Built and spliced Mass fusion ribbon system, along with Fiber Net of Chicago, Illinois. Terminated 576-ct. cable to pre-connectorized ribbon patch panels.

 

AT&T, Chicago, Illinois.

                                                Various styles of connectors produced and polished include:

                                                ST, SC, and FC. Completed installs in various styles of OCEF cabinets,
