Fiber Optics Technician

Maintained the service of fiber optic lines used in CATV, Telephone and High Speed Data Transfer for Adelphia Communications.
Extensive travel throughout the state of Virginia to upgrade fiber optic cable systems.
Completed Live Fiber Cutovers for Adelphia Business Solutions throughout Central Virginia, whose customers included Dominion Telephone, Intelos, CATV, and Long Haul DWDM.
Extensive experience with fusion splicers, OTDR‘s, light meters, live fiber identifiers, cleavers, enclosures, and different fiber optic cables.
Responsible for troubleshooting and emergency restorations related to defective fibers.
Performed optical power testing and measurements from Headend and field.
Responsible for documentation of splicing losses and light levels.
Completed Fiber matrixes of entire Adelphia Staunton system.

Cable Splicer/Service Technician/Sweep Technician

Responsible for splicing passive and active equipment into new and existing plant.
Worked with fiber optic nodes and power supplies both underground and aerial.
Optimized forward and reverse activation levels according to Adelphia Communications specifications using Wavetek SDA 5000 signal level meter.
Equipped the system so cable Internet modems would work properly.
Trained employees in pole climbing, splicing, systems safety and troubleshooting.
Conducted field walkouts of new and existing plant.
Responsible for trouble calls of system outages from the Headend to the field.
Completed documentation which included actual system levels, end of lines, carrier to noise ratios as well as proof of performance tests.

Warehouse

Responsible for inventory of all CATV equipment issued.
Conducted field door tagging to notify customers of future cable outages.
