My friend, I agree that courtesy and tolerance is a good thing, but you are some kind of Saint to smile and be cordial to a man who owes you 16 grand. I don't think I could do it.

> I'm actually quite new to the CABL.com site but I have noticed a disturbing trend in it. There are so many cable workers bashing each other that it puts a "Black-Cloud" over everyone in the business. So many times I have heard linemen described as transient loners with no morals. With all the finger-pointing and blaming going on in this site, anyone who doesn't know better would believe just that. I for one strongly disagree with anyone that would degrade a lineman as I have met some of the most honest, hard-working, and up-front people you could ever hope to find in the cable industry.

These types put a stigma on the business and are a large reason why there are so many attitudes and so much distrust in the business. Don't let these kinds of operators lead you to post nasty messages that would be mis-interpreted by others as being vengeful, hateful, and/or unprofessional.

Everyone's heard the old cliche' "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". Well, I think that is true. Case in point: I worked with one guy and we did very well for several years. All of a sudden he quit paying me regularly and we had to part ways. To this day, the man still owes me over $16,000 but I know I'll never see it. Instead of arguing and opening a can of "whoop-ass", I am cordial and speak to him everyday. So far he has been extremely helpful to me in my new endeavor and has enabled me to make well over $16,000 more than I would have made without his help.
