Why bother with all of the sympathy bullsh**, when you’re going to end your statement with a comment like that. Have we not learned anything here? It’s just a job, and no job is worth risking your life over.
Does this mean when OSHA gets a hold of this story, (and they will) that you’ll continue to make your river crossings in the same manner? How much more time is it going to take to get a boat? Maybe an hour? Is any job so important that you can’t spare an hour.
I don’t think intelligence is the issue here. I would be more concerned about the safety issues involved. Apparently, you don’t operate under the “safety first” motto. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to question the safety issue here. If you haven’t questioned the safety issue, then maybe you have already proven your intelligence level in this statement. You may not feel less intelligent, but your statement here says otherwise.
Here's something to think about.
If this should ever happen to you, would you want somebody to make this comment to your surviving family members? The least we can do is learn from this mistake. All of the OSHA safety rules and guidelines have originated from attitudes like this. Get a boat!
