Re: More info on a pos. union

the largest problem with cable today is people who say it can't be done, people who think it's ok that our brothers out there are killing themselves quite literally because the price of strand has fallen to less than half than it was just a couple years ago this making good smart dogs do some stupid things like try to up production just so they can afford to eat something with meat in it for dinner, the problem is that the quality of work suffers and even worse than that linedogs are getting killed because they are trying to move so fast that they forget the simple things in safety. I have had friends die in this work not because they did not know how to use a traveling ground but they were trying to get the job done so fast that they forgot, we all need to stand together to get the wages back up to a level where we can all do our best work and do it safely. you say it can't happen, so did the plumbers, carpenters, steel mill workers, truckers, factory workers, police departments, and so on and so on, none of these unions were started with open arms from everyone, but now all these people a very happy that the unions did start and very happy that the pesimiss did not rule. I for one like the idea of a vote, I also think a union should have rules that are decided on by the people who have to fallow them, not a bunch of people sitting in an air conditioned office who have never been in the field bleeding and sweating for hours on end and have never had to worry about paying bills because the one thing I can see that has not been going down is management salaries, I'm not by any means discounting managers, I happen to know several that I have nothing but respect for because they will fight for you and work beside you in the field when they have the chance and always when you need help. but back to the point here, a union will only work if we make it work just like all unions before this one had to do, the worse thing that could happen is we fail but at least we go down swinging.
