The sale Adelphia was considering to Charter was for select systems in Los Angeles and also North and South Carolina and Georgia. The deal will not go through because of the price that Paul Allen offered them. The major stockholders also raised objections at the sale of these systems being that is the bulk of there income and would devalue the company too much. They likened it too "burning the furniture to keep the house warm". If Adelphia is going to sell they want it done as a whole entity and not piece mealed out. Also Adelphia just admitted to keeping two books on capital expenses and only showed one to Wall Street. This inflated their subscriber count by about 10% which equates to 400,000-500,000 subs. I strongly suspect that Adelphia will be forced to file bankruptcy unless someone jumps in with several billion in funding. It is certainly a shame as it gives a somewhat bleak outlook on the industry in the near term. Good luck to everyone effected by the Adelphia fiasco.
> isnt it strange that all jobs hiring right now are charter at half normal pay and they are supposed to be a major player in buyout of adelphia. this info is just heresay but would like input from others on this subject . been around since 70's and have not seen or heaerd of anything like this before. input please
