Re: Rate these sub install prices

Try putting your economic's hat one for a brief moment. The prices that you are receiving are most probably driven by market demands. If there is a flood of installation vendors out there in Vegas hawking their services don't you think that the MSO (In this case Cox) will take advantage of this to cut their capital outlay? You bet your ass they will. They'd be stupid if they didn't.

One suggestion - eliminate your competition! When that's done the market becomes inverted and your services become a premium and you can then dictate your (gouging)rates. But until then you have to weather the flood of competion. So, diversify and spread your base operations linearly over your market area. Just don't be stupid and offer up a QOS or QC package on installations separate to what you're already providing. The operator won't tolerate a conflict of interest. Try drop burials, Digital installation, CModems, Commercial installation, Tap auditing etc. just to name a few. Try hooking up with the prime to lay drops in their new build projects up to the customer's electric meter. Hey, good business is where you find it and make it happen.

It's a tough economic market out there. It's the survival of the fittest. Remember that!

> Well your right Spike, but Cox is the only MSO out here, and if you want to do cable you either deal with these sh**ty prices or go In-House. Unless you have the freedom to travel, You won't make sh** out here in Vegas. What is worst, the Primes out here, which there are 7 different ones last time I checked, are all to busy kissing the MSO's ass to stand up for better treatment for us contractors. The word "Cable Dawg" is a dirty word out here per my Supervisor.(cussing)

You'll get the bastards who "HOOK AND BOOK", improper grounding, hiding sh** like squirrel chews in the aerial cable with black electrical tape/tie wraps, (so you get some CLI violations), and just some plain dumb idiots. They'll also probably skip verifying RF levels at tap, Ground block, tv set, ETC to make sure your customers are getting a quality service. They'll do poor work and piss your customers off. If you want quality work then pay a qualified tech to do it.
