Franco, if you were subcontracting to the people who paid you, then you are responsible for the costs of any injuries to yourself or your wife. If you two were actually employees of the subcontractor then they have to pay. If you're not sure of which situation you have, just look at your check stubs from the subcontractor. If they took taxes out, you are an employee. Hope this helps.
