CABL Forum - Network Engineer Consultant

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Ø Engineering degree and/or equivalent experience in Cable industry
Ø Extensive Technical and System Operations knowledge of the Motorola Digital System to include:
o Full System Operational Configuration
§ DAC-6000, RADD, KLS-1000, MPS, C6U, RPD, OM-1000, NC-1500, IRTs, and DCT-1000/2000/5000
o Full System Management, Monitoring and Reporting Capabilities and Operations.
o Billing configurations and interaction as it relates to the Digital System.
o DCT Provisioning and Subscriber Authorization Process
Ø Data Networking in a CATV/Broadband Environment
Ø Strong Troubleshooting in a Data Networking and CATV/Broadband Environment
Ø Extensive Knowledge and Application in a HFC, IP, UNIX, Database (Informix, SyBase, Access, Oracle), NMS, ATM, SONET environment
Ø Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Ø Documentation Development skills
Ø Excellent math and analytical skills required. Ability to analyze trouble areas and understand technical issues to arrive at the right business decision.
Ø Excellent Problem Solving, Process Mapping and Decision Making Skills
Ø Excellent interpersonal, organization, written and oral presentation skills
Ø Desire to work in a development engineering environment where interchange of ideas is encouraged
Ø Willingness to learn and to teach
Ø 40% travel is required

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Participate in the development of operational and network assessment programs
Ø Perform Digital System performance analysis
Ø Generate Reports for analysis
Ø Contribute ideas on ways to resolve problems to better serve the customer
and/or improve productivity.
Ø Participate in activities designed to improve customer satisfaction and
business performance.
Ø Work on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variance factors. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results
Ø Maintain broad knowledge of products, pricing, promotions, procedures, and
other important issues through management communications, meetings, client
focus groups, and formal training.
