Just to add to XMOD's answer if you do leakage first you'll take care of about 75% of the ingress problems.
> normal procedure if your using a hand held oscillator (transmitter)is to inject at the back of the set and work towards the tap. If you are working in an older plant you may want to disconnect the drop from the tap...in some of the older taps the port isolation is not good enough to keep your oscillating freq.off of your plant. Yes, splitters do make a difference and often are the main offenders. Hope that helps you some.
