Re:Hey FiberDood, apc1, Budda, sprdave, stoneface do you think that...

That's a good point, Magi. Although it's ultimately between northstar and mc. Look, the fact is we've all been burned one time or another. Just read these postings every day. How many times have you heard "The checks in the mail" or "We lost your paperwork" or better yet, not heard anything at all?
There's an old saying "If you play with fire, you might get burned." Sooner or later we all learn this lesson. Some of us are lucky enough to be shown by example, others must learn by trial and error. The point is that we are responsible for our own actions and who we choose to do business with. If you do work for people you dont know, you run the risk of being screwed. And worse yet, you sometimes run the risk of being screwed by people you DO know. This business has had a reputation for being full of cut throat contractors and shady individuals for way too long. It's these individuals who ruin things for the guys just trying to pay their rent or feed their children. It's up to us not to become one of these individuals. Just remember, the only way they can screw you is if YOU let them.

>...if you read between the lines of this response from uuc2 it sounds like Northstar22001 has perhaps finally gotten to him/her? This barrage of bad press may have actually been effective and caused the release of funds. The best defense of the "bad" folks is usually to make the "good" folks appear to be whiners, malcontents, or worse. It worked well for Enron, at least for a while, and it certainly seems to work in the cable industry. In the best interest of us good folks don't be tempted to play into their game. If repeated postings annoy you then simply skip over them. Frivolous overposting will, over time, diminish the legitimacy of any such user anyway. I also realize that there are two sides to any story, but this is an excellent forum for airing possibly legitimate beefs, with no associated legal expenses. Depending on the particular attorney, and circumstances, I would dare say that it is not even worth pursuing $2,500 or less, except on priniciple, and those that owe are usually quite aware of this! Let's make lots of money and have even more fun doing it in 2002!!!
