The wiring in a versalift has to be replaced from time to time becouse it gets brittle and can short out. First check where the wires come out of the jacket going to your switches. Sometimes the trouble can be found at that location becouse of something that had been halfass repaired in the past.Make sure that the cable is not sliding past the holding clamp and shorting out. If you find the problem there make sure you you clamp it back securely so it want move. You can order the new harness from lots of places but you will need help to get it back in corectly.
Good Luck
>I have a Versalift on Ford van body. The Onan stops running when I'm retracting in at about the last 4-6 feet. The starter switch doesn't operate on the boom or the generator itself when this happens. However, it works fine
>(I can start it up from the bucket) when I'm extended out beyond 4-6 ft. from using auxillary power. I've tried exchanging wires on the starter buttom and the off/on switch on the boom and the panel below with spares in the harness. Still does the same thing. I think it's some kind of short or broken wire inside the arm that causes this when the harness moves while booming in. The control buttons on the bucket work fine in auxillary power or when the Onan is running. Anyone encounter this same problem? Thanx.
