In Southern Calif Adelphia places "virtual nodes" in place. It's basically a node that can be configured to operate as a typical RF amplifier. You install it where the node is supposed to go, put the current trunk cable in as input, activate it, then splice the rest of the distribution per new design. Once the fiber's up and hot, the "virtual node" is switched over to light and you're done!
>No technical mumbo jumbo BS,in laymans terms what is "virtual splicing"? I have asked people with 10,15,20 years in the business, nobody seems to know, or have done it before. What problems does it pose for the splicer out there on the pole?
>In other words what is expected of the splicer while doing virtual splicing? Any help would be appreciated. Post your answer here I am sure there are other people that would like to know.
